Welcome Partridge Woods Neighbors!

Hello, this is Cheilon Preston, your neighbor at 2 Partridge Circle (the blue house as you come in). The reason I have created this blog is because I want to facilitate an easy way for us all to communicate and share information pertinent to the neighborhood. As we look forward to future community celebrations and get togethers, I hope this page can be a place we can go to communicate, stay up to date and to share precious memories.

The main issue that is facing us as a community at the moment is that our neighborhood HOA covenants are set to expire at the end of this year. We need to renew them to keep them legally compliant and ensure we retain the ability to enjoy our common areas such as the community dock. Of course we also want to ensure that our neighborhood remains a safe and beautiful place for many decades to come for our children and grandchildren, as well as future residents, to enjoy.

To this end, the current board members have drafted a document for us to vote on tomorrow, Sunday November 15th, at 4:30 p.m. at the dock, that contain many changes to our current rules and restrictions. These new covenants have raised concern amongst some in the neighborhood and as a result, letters have been placed in mailboxes and conversations are taking place between neighbors.

My personal position is that whatever covenants are adopted, they are slated to run until 2040 and so they should be passed in a way that ensures everyone is aware of the proposed changes and has the chance to voice their opinion and to vote.

I know that it is never possible to please everyone, but I do feel that if we work together and take the time to engage in thoughtful, civilized conversation we can come to a consensus that we can all accept and live with.

In the interest of open communication, I have attached a copy of our current covenants, the document I was sent by board member Gina Sheltzer of the proposed new covenants, and some other pertinent information such as past meeting minutes. Please feel free to communicate your questions, opinions and concerns by leaving comments below.

One thing I hope we all keep in mind is that we ALL care about our neighborhood and we care about each other as well. I have been here for three years and met many of you, and if I haven't met you yet I hope I will have an opportunity to do so in the future! Let's keep things civil and refrain from personal attacks, and focus instead on what we want to see going forward.
